If You’re Doing the Keto Diet Can You Still Eat Fruit?

Some fruits are allowed on the keto diet and some should be avoided completely.

Fruit is a typical component of most diets and health plans. But when it comes to a low carb, high fat diet like keto, fruit can be the enemy. Many fruits are on the “absolutely not ever” list when it comes to a keto diet, but there is one that can be eaten freely and a few which can be had in moderation.
Always Allowed
- Avocado is always allowed due to its high fat content.
Allowed in Moderation
- Berries
- Coconut
- Rhubarb
- Olives
- Watermelon
- Cantaloupe
- Honeydew
When it comes to the “Allowed in Moderation” list, it’s important to check your daily allotment of carbohydrates to make sure some of these high carb fruits won’t completely derail your keto efforts.
Unfortunately, popular fruits like apples, nectarines, grapefruits, oranges, plums, cherries, pears, grapes and peaches should be avoided completely.
Tropical fruits and fruit juices should also never be a part of your keto day.
