If You’re on the Keto Diet do You Have to Give Up Cheese?
The Short Answer:
Yes, cheese can be a great part of the ketogenic diet!
The Long Answer
Keto is not your typical diet. For me, eliminating dairy made health plans like Whole30 nearly impossible. I love cheese and other dairy products too much. Good news, some dairy is a go on keto! While milk and ice cream should be avoided, cheese, butter, heavy cream, and full fat yogurts are all perfect for this low carb, high fat plan.
You don’t want to overdo it though. As with any diet, moderation is key. Cheese is very easy to gorge on, and I know this from a plethora of experience. Take it slow and be smart about it, and you can still enjoy cheese on your burger. (Without the bun! Try this as a Keto bun alternative).
What is Keto?
The Ketogenic Diet, or Keto, is a low carb, high fat diet which helps you lose weight by forcing the body into a state of ketosis. On the Keto diet, users force the body to shed pounds by feeding on fat broken down in the liver, rather than carbohydrates and glucose.
When we eat a lot of carbohydrates, the body produces both insulin and glucose. The body feeds on the glucose to produce energy and stores fat, rather than burning it. With keto, you can lose weight, improve your overall health, and enrich yourself in both body and mind. Learn more about the Keto Diet here.
