Eggs are Often Found in the Dairy Section at the Supermarket Alongside Milk, Butter and Cheese. But Are Eggs Dairy?
The Short Answer
No, eggs are not dairy.
The Long Answer
Is this something that people actually think? I suppose I can see where the confusion originates. Eggs are almost always found in the dairy section of supermarkets. Because of this, many people have mistakenly decided that this versatile chicken by-product is actually dairy.
Dairy is defined as, “milk, or products made from or containing milk.”
Eggs contain no milk whatsoever and are the unfertilized egg of a chicken. There is absolutely no dairy present in an egg.
That being said, cheese on eggs is one of my all time favorite combinations.
So, don’t be fooled by their placement in supermarket aisles. Eggs are 100% NOT dairy!
